Embark on an all-new 12-day itinerary to discover remote and wild islands. Aboard Le Boréal, you will sail on the Norwegian Sea and the Greenland Sea during this expedition cruise that will take you from Glasgow to Longyearbyen.

You will first call at the Hebrides and the Orkney Islands, two archipelagos in the northern United Kingdom where numerous seabirds, such as gannets and European shags, have taken up residence.

Next, Le Boréal will head for the Icelandic coast. First, you will discover Heimaey. This is the only inhabited island in the Westman archipelago. It is an exceptional place composed of volcanoes and almost-desert landscapes, where fishing is the main food source. You will then explore the stunning fjords along the country’s east coast and marvel at waterfalls, snow-covered mountains, and villages dotted with colourful houses.

Le Boréal will then cross the Arctic Circle before making its way to Jan Mayen Island, which was very dear to Captain Jean-Baptiste Charcot. Located at the limit of the Arctic and North-Atlantic oceans, this remote and uninhabited volcanic island was once a major whaling base and is home to large colonies of birds.

Continue your cruise with an exploration of Spitsbergen. There, you will discover Hornsund, one of the island’s most beautiful fjords, boasting an impressive glacier front, as well as Bellsund, whose lush valleys are sure to win you over.

We are privileged guests in these remote lands where we are at the mercy of weather, ice, tidal and current conditions. Landings on certain sites and the observation of certain wildlife cannot be guaranteed. They vary from day to day, making each PONANT cruise a unique experience. The Captain and the Expedition Leader will make every effort to ensure that your experience is as rich as possible, while complying with the safety rules and instructions imposed by the AECO.
