Born 1995 in Paris to parents who were both musicians, Jean-Paul Gasparian was admitted to the Paris Conservatoire (CNSM) at 14 and obtained his masters with distinction in 2015. His professors included Olivier Gardon, Jacques Rouvier, Michel Béroff and Laurent Cabasso. He went on to study at the CNSMDP with Michel Dalberto and Claire Désert, and at London’s Royal College of Music with Vanessa Latarche, fine tuning his skills with Elisso Virsaladze in Italy. He has also received advice from Tatiana Zelikman at Masterclasses abroad.  

Jean-Paul has recorded three solo albums for the Evidence Classics label, all enthusiastically received by the French and foreign press. His latest album performing Rachmaninov was released in January 2022.  

In February 2020 he was awarded the Thierry-Scherz Prize at Les Sommets Musicaux festival in Gstaad, which led to him recording a CD with the Berne Symphonic Orchestra for the Claves label that included Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2 and Arno Babadjanian’s Heroic Ballade. 

At France’s 2021 Victoires de la Musique, Jean-Paul won the instrumental soloist revelation category and in 2013 was awarded First Prize Philosophy at the Concours Général des Lycées. 

In March 2014 he won at the prestigious Bremen European Competition, is artist in residence at the Singer-Polignac Foundation, and winner at the Villecroze Music Academy and Fondation l'Or du Rhin.
