The capital of Thailand, Bangkok, through which runs the Chao Phraya River, is one of the biggest cities in the world. The river separates the two main areas that make up the tropical megalopolis: the right bank whose many canals have earned it the moniker “Venice of Asia”, and the more developed left bank. Bangkok is tentacular. It is a wonderful condensed version of Asia that you will enjoy experiencing through the rare and sophisticated flavours of its legendary gastronomy. Bangkok is the home of the famous Temple of the Golden Buddha, a remarkable example of Sukhotai art. The Grand Palace, an imperial treasure built in 1782 and one of the most beautiful examples of palaces from the former kingdom of Siam, is also worth a visit.
