At 46 degrees south, in the Southland region, facing the Antarctic coastlines, Bluff is the southernmost town of New Zealand’s two main islands. Isolated from the rest of the world, this pearl of the south feels like a lost paradise, with its lush plains, marine reserves, and shores shredded by the winds and currents. While the port is now buzzing with the coming and going of oyster farmers, it was one of the first drop-off points for British settlers at the beginning of the 19th century, making the town one of the country’s oldest European settlements.  Bluff is also famous for Stirling Point, where there is a signpost for the last landmark before the Antarctic coastlines.
