Follow in the footsteps of the Vikings and discover Haugesund, often considered as the cradle of Norway. This charming port town with colourful wooden houses is located on the west coast of Norway, between Bergen and Stavanger. In the past, Haugesund was the home port of the Viking King, Harald Fairhair, who unified the country in 872. While completely preserving this rich historical heritage, the town has been able to develop, notably thanks to its port activities. During your stopover, don’t miss out on the visit to the reconstructed farm in Avaldnes: a fine opportunity to find out more about the Viking way of life. Also let yourself be captivated by Haugesund’s surrounding area, with sublime scenery of mountains, heathland, fjords and waterfalls.
