Kalsoy Island, meaning man island in Old Faroese, is one of the wildest in the archipelago. Only 150 people live there, in 4 villages. Sheep are the main livestock in this archipelago that is also renowned for its wool. They roam free and colonise the vast expanses of unspoiled land. The lighthouses in the Faroe Islands stand between land and ocean, at the mercy of the elements. You will be fascinated by their locations. On the northern tip of the island, the Kallur lighthouse is a must-see: standing atop vertiginous cliffs, it overlooks the ocean and its immaculate white silhouette stands out against the imposing mountains in the background. You will enjoy this magnificent panorama from the village of Trollanes, where the climb to the lighthouse begins.
