Archaeologist
David Brotherson
Dr. David Brotherson is an archaeologist, historian, and storyteller who specializes in the daily life, maritime trade, and politics of the ancient world. Once bitten by the travel bug, David began exploring the cultural heritage sites of Europe and Asia and has continued so for more than 20 years. His archaeological research employs cutting-edge remote sensing and traditional forms of data collection, from lidar scanning and satellite imagery to excavation and field prospection. In 2020, David completed his PhD at the University of Sydney investigating the decline of the medieval empire of Angkor, and he is currently a research associate with the Max Planck Institute of Geoanthropology. As an avid student and scholar of world history, David now leads expeditions through the Mediterranean, the Adriatic, and the Dalmatian Coast.
