Naturalist
Madlena Patacho
Madalena is a naturalist with special expertise in marine biology and ecotourism. After she earned her Master’s in Management of Natural Resources, Madalena lived on Príncipe Island, off the west coast of Africa, working with local communities on a responsible tourism project, creating and implementing a sustainable plan for tourism development.
For the last 15 years she has worked on expeditions as a naturalist & expedition leader around the world. Encouraging travelers to learn and connect with the places they visit. She is inspired by the principles of ecotourism and is always looking for great ways to contribute and leave a positive footprint everywhere she travels.
A passionate traveler, with an insatiable curiosity about nature, geography and biodiversity, Madalena has traveled and worked around the world from North to South America, Europe, Africa, the Arctic, Asia and most recently South Pacific. From ancient ruins to marine reserves, hiking volcanoes and connecting with local and indigenous communities. Baja California is one of her favorite places for true exploration. It has served as the training ground for her development as an expedition leader, offering hands-on experience through its diverse landscapes, biodiversity, wildlife on land and at sea as well as rich cultural environment.
Madalena is always looking for unique and authentic cultural experiences. When not traveling or lecturing around the world, she works on ocean literacy, with a variety of audiences, raising awareness of ocean conservation and biodiversity.
