Vocalist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist Mar Vilaseca was born in 1998 in Barcelona, Spain. Mar grew up in a musical environment and began playing and singing at a very young age, exposed to a wide variety of musical styles. Mar later moved to New York City to pursue her Master of Music in Jazz Studies at The Juilliard School, studying with Wynton Marsalis, Carla Cook, Elio Villafranca, Kenny Washington, Donald Vega, and others.  In 2026, Mar was awarded First Prize at the 7th UNISA International Jazz Voice Competition in South Africa, one of the most prestigious international competitions for jazz vocalists. This recognition further established her as one of the most compelling emerging voices of her generation. In the words of legendary musician Hermeto Pascoal, “Mar doesn’t just perform music, she is music.”
