Mariam Battistelli

Italian soprano born in Ethiopia, Mariam Battistelli got noticed at prestigious international opera competitions, such as 16th International Competition Ottavio Ziino, where in 2017 she won both the First Prize and the Audience Prize. In 2018 she joined Vienna State Opera Ensemble, where she remained till Summer 2020 and where she had the opportunity to debut many roles: Musetta in La bohéme, Gretel in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel and Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, and she could also work with outstanding conductors as Christian Thielemann, Adam Fischer and Speranza Scapucci.

Mariam Battistelli graduated with honors from the Conservatory of Music Lucio Campiani in Mantua, then from 2013 to 2016 she has been admitted at Centre de Perfeccionament Plácido Domingo of Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia de Valencia.

In 2017 she performed the role of Euridice at Royal Opera House of Muscat in the world premiere of The Opera!, from which is being completed a movie that will be released in 2024, directed by Davide Livermore and starring Vincent Cassel and Fanny Ardant.

Recent highlights include Musetta in La bohème at Teatro alla Scala di Milano and at Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Adina in L’elisir d’amore and Norina in Don Pasquale at Glyndebourne Opera, “Musiques en fêtes” at Choregies d’Orange, Mozart’s Requiem with London Philarmonic Orchestra, Scarlatti’s Griselda at Festival della Valle d’Itria in Martina Franca.
