Born in Livorno, soprano Martina Russomanno began her artistic career at the age of 11 as a singer and actress for Disney Channel in Italy. She discovered opera at the Livorno Music High School and decided to fully dedicate herself to vocal studies. She then continued her training at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, where she made her debut as Vitellia (La clemenza di Tito).
At just 22 years old, she made her professional debut in Brussels in Die tote Stadt. From 2021 to 2023, she was a member of the Opera Studio of the Opéra de Paris and the Young Artist Program at the Salzburg Festival. She went on to perform Clorinda (La Cenerentola) at the Opéra de Paris, Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte) at the Royal Opera House of Muscat, Corinna (Il viaggio a Reims) at the Rossini Opera Festival, and Marzelline (Fidelio) in Venezuela under the direction of Gustavo Dudamel, as well as at the Opéra de Dijon. She made her debut in Brazil with a series of Rossini concerts and in the United States with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra performing Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony.
Recently, she portrayed Princess Eudoxie (La Juive) at the Teatro Regio in Turin (a production awarded the Abbiati Prize), Glauce (Medea) and Bianca (La rondine) at La Scala in Milan. This season, she is singing the title role in Manon in Turin, as well as Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), Violetta (La Traviata) in Strasbourg and Geneva, and Madama Cortese (Il viaggio a Reims) at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
Beyond opera, Martina is also very active in recital performance of Lieder and chamber music. Her repertoire spans Italian, French, and German art songs, as well as Spanish and Portuguese works.
Winner of numerous international competitions, she has also received the Cercle Carpeaux Prize from the Opéra de Paris in 2022, as well as the Young Talent Grant from the prestigious Musique et Vin festival at Clos Vougeot.
