PONANT invites you on an 8-day cruise aboard Le Lapérouse for an exceptional immersion in Celtic lands, from Dublin to County Cork, via Scotland and Isle of Man. This interlude will take you to the heart of landscapes of wild and melancholic beauty. Between lush meadows, craggy cliffs, small colourful villages, peat bogs and moors, succumb to the charms of these lands steeped in mystery.
Over the course of your trip, at every port of call guests will each be able to choose one included excursion from the selection offered by Ponant. On this cruise, explore the coastline of the Isle of Man aboard heritage trains departing from Douglas, wander the streets of Cork city centre, or visit Canada Hill from Rothesay to admire the uninterrupted views. Le Lapérouse will set sail towards Rothesay, an elegant Victorian seaside resort on the Isle of Bute. Constructed around its 13th-century castle, the small town brims with charm, with its fine dwellings in the extravagant Georgian architectural style, and its sumptuous wild and landscaped gardens.
Your ship will then take you to the Isle of Man, located between the United Kingdom and Ireland, with a clear Celtic and Viking heritage. The capital Douglas is an authentic postcard from United Kingdom of yesteryear with a Victorian atmosphere. You will also discover Liverpool, a former industrial powerhouse, today completely redeveloped, located on the banks of the Mersey and famous as the birthplace of the Beatles.
In the north of Wales and in the west of the captivating Isle of Anglesey, succumb to the charms of the enchanting small port town of Holyhead. Often called “the mother of Wales” due to its importance in history, Holyhead is a paradise for anyone with a passion for natural landscapes and heritage. After a unique stop in Bantry, between spectacular cliffs, a fascinating bay, and vast stretches of orange-tinged moors, you will call at Cobh. Charming and romantic, a place of history and legend, the city reveals itself through its maze of cobbled streets with, in the background, its 17th-century fortress and its majestic forest.
Your cruise will end in Dublin, the Irish capital brimming with convivial atmosphere and authentic charm.

Next to Trinity College, famous for its 18th century library, you can stroll along Grafton Street: in one of its famous tea shops, try a delicious scone and clotted cream served hot and melt-in-the-mouth with jam. Not far from here, the majestic O’Connell bridge leads you to the avenue with the same name, on which Spire, a luminous contemporary sculpture presides.

Rothesay is an elegant seaside resort and the main town on the Isle of Bute, a Scottish island bathed by the Firth of Clyde, a vast expanse of coastal water sheltered from the Atlantic Ocean by the Kintyre Peninsular. The town has some remarkable monuments, including its castle, a 13th-century building modified several times over its turbulent history between Norwegian attacks and English invasion. You will also discover the Victorian architecture of the houses overlooking the romantic Rothesay Bay, as well as the Isle of Bute Discovery Centre, a unique circular structure from the 1920s constructed of cast iron and glass. Make sure you visit Mount Stuart House, an incredible 19th-century manor house built in the Georgian architectural style, with an interior that was modern for the time, and its magnificent wild and landscaped gardens.

Douglas is the capital of the Isle of Man, a self-governing island in the Irish Sea between England and Ireland. The Isle of Man is best-known for its gruelling annual TT motorbike race but Douglas itself is a charming traditional seaside resort. The stroll along the busy promenade is very popular, as well as the visit of the Manx Museum, which retraces the island's fascinating Celtic and Viking heritage. It is possible to take a steam train into the mountainous interior, where medieval castles and pretty villages and farms can be observed.

Day 1 - Dublin
Meet and greet at the airport arrival hall. Look for PONANT sign. You will be greeted by our local representative off the PONANT selected flight.

This evening you will depart your hotel and travel out of the bustling city to the calm of the suburbs where you will enjoy a traditional Irish meal along with an unmissable experience of Irish song, music and dance. The enchanting evening includes a delicious four-course dinner followed by an Irish coffee. Day 2 - Dublin - County Galway (Connemara)
After enjoying breakfast, you'll set out from your hotel accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide for a full day of exploration. Enjoy a short panoramic tour of the city by bus before venturing further west to Connemara.
Your route then lead you through picturesque landscapes to the enchanting Kilbeggan Distillery. Established in 1757, this venerable distillery holds the distinction of being Ireland's oldest licensed distillery. Despite facing numerous challenges over the centuries, the resilient spirit of Kilbeggan endures, upheld by the unwavering support of the local community.
Upon arrival, you'll embark on an engaging tour of the distillery, gaining insights into its storied past and innovative present. Witness firsthand the harmonious blend of traditional whiskey-making techniques and modern craftsmanship. And of course, no visit would be complete without savoring a sampling of Kilbeggan's celebrated whiskey, a testament to its enduring legacy.

Day 3 - Galway County (Connemara)
Following breakfast in your hotel, enjoy a morning at leisure or experience the secrets of falconry at Glenlo Abbey.
In the late morning, depart your hotel for Clifden, a coastal town located on the Owenglin River.
Enjoy a brief orientation tour of the town. Known as ‘the Capital of Connemara', Clifden has become one of Ireland's most sought-after holiday destinations. Visitors and local people mingle, giving the town a unique and enjoyable cosmopolitan flavour. Lunch will be served in a local establishment before you enjoy some free time to explore this beautiful town.
Then, depart for a scenic drive to Kylemore Abbey. The rugged landscape of Connemara offers beautiful and contrasting scenery. Majestic mountains rise steeply from an earth of contrasting rock and boglands with many lakes and rivers. Artists from all around the world come to paint this landscape with its ever-changing light.

Kylemore Castle was built in the late 1800’s by Mitchell Henry MP, a wealthy businessman and politician.
Henry created an estate boasting “all the innovations the modern age”. Located on the northern shore of Lough Pollacappul, in the heart of the Connemara Mountains, Kylemore Abbey has long been regarded as one of Ireland's most romantic buildings.
Today, Kylemore Abbey is owned and run by the Benedictine Nuns who have been in residence here since 1920. Over the years the Benedictine nuns at Kylemore have worked hard to restore the gardens at the Abbey. Today, the formal flower garden is beautifully restored; two glasshouses have been reinstated and the kitchen garden is once again productive. With its woodland and lakeshore walks, magnificent buildings and Ireland’s largest walled garden, there’s much to discover here. You will enjoy a guided tour of this stunning abbey followed by some free time to explore independently.

Day 4 - County Galway (Connemara) / County Limerick
After breakfast in the hotel, you will check out and depart.
Travelling through Galway city enjoy a panoramic tour before stopping for lunch enroute to the Cliffs of Moher. The Cliffs of Moher are one of Ireland's most spectacular sights. These majestic cliffs rise from the Atlantic Ocean to a height of nearly 200m and extend for a distance of 8km along the dramatic Irish coastline.
They take their name from a ruined promontory fort, Mothar, which was demolished during the Napoleonic wars to make room for a signal tower.
A visit will be made to the Atlantic Edge visitors centre. Housed at the centre of the underground building a huge domed cave contains images, exhibits, displays & experiences that will delight young and old alike. A virtual reality cliff face adventure, THE LEDGE, will be shown in the audiovisual theatre allowing visitors to experience life at the cliff face both above and below sea level, meeting a cast of characters from among the native bird and sea life.
Following your memorable visit to the cliffs, rejoin your motor coach and guide for your onward journey.

After disembarkation procedures are completed, you will be greeted at the port by our local English-speaking representative.
Departing from the pier and enjoy a panoramic city tour.
Then visit Dublin Castle. The castle played an important role from the Middle Ages up until 1922 as it was the residence of representatives of the British monarchy. It has survived numerous rebellions during its history, such as the 1916 uprising, and is today the theatre of official ceremonies such as the investiture of the President of the Republic. It was here that the 1998 peace agreements with Northern Ireland were signed.
You will have lunch in a local restaurant.
After lunch, reach the fascinating EPIC Museum, where Irish heritage is celebrated. Located within the vaults of the elegantly restored CHQ building in the Dublin Docklands, EPIC is a thought-provoking experiential museum devoted to Irish history. The displays explore Ireland's influence on the arts, education, science, politics, and sports, and feature some of the country's most popular exports, such as Riverdance, Guinness, and the tradition of the Irish pub. This immersive experience tells some of the most remarkable tales of sacrifice, endurance and discovery the world has ever known, and brings to life the amazing stories of Irish emigration through the centuries.
You will then be transferred to the airport in time for check-in for the PONANT selected flight.
