Come aboard L'Austral for an unforgettable voyage.

From the southern coast of Greenland to the frozen expanses of Nunavut, via the wild fjords of Labrador, Newfoundland and the mysterious islands of Saint Pierre and Miquelon, nature showcases its majesty. Bathed in soft light, the Greenland fjords reveal glaciers and icebergs, while Nunavut’s unique natural environment welcomes polar bears in profound silence. On Akpatok Island, limestone cliffs and guillemots whisper timeless stories. Further south, the mountains of Labrador and the lagoons of the Atlantic islands invite contemplation and tranquillity amidst ever-changing light and an endless horizon.

Itinerary is subject to change according to port authorizations and government regulations. We are privileged guests in these remote lands where we are at the mercy of weather, ice, tidal and current conditions. Landings on certain sites and the observation of certain wildlife cannot be guaranteed. They vary from day to day, making each PONANT cruise a unique experience. The Captain and the Expedition Leader will make every effort to ensure that your experience is as rich as possible, while complying with the safety rules and instructions imposed by the AECO.

Travel with peace of mind as PONANT organises your day time between the airport and your port of embarkation.

Halifax

After disembarkation procedures are completed, you will be greeted at the port by our local English-speaking representative.

Nova Scotia is home to a vibrant fishing community and this tour will offer up a perfect blend of history and nature, sea spray and feasts, for enthusiasts of maritime tales. Proof of this will be found at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic and in the charming village of Peggy’s Cove.

Start your morning visit with the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. The museum houses many maritime treasures, including thousands of marine photographs, boat models, a vast collection of marine maps, portraits of ships, and even more. However, it is doubtless its permanent exhibition devoted to the Titanic attracts the most curiosity as it is the largest collection of wooden objects from the ship that sank 700 nautical miles off the coast.

Board your coach for a 1h15 bus ride to Peggy’s Cove. Walk  long this charming fishing village where 40 souls live all year round and discver its colourful houses, its small shops, its immense rocks, its lighthouse, and its history with close links to lobster fishing. In the eponymous cove, discover the sculpture of William de Garthe, dedicated to local fishermen.

On the way back, admire the panoramic views over Halifax and its famous citadel, the guardian of the city since it was founded two and a half centuries ago.

Lunch will be served at a local restaurant.

You will then be transferred to the airport in time for check-in of the PONANT selected flight.

Your programme includes:

·        Transfers and visits as mentioned in the programme.

·        Lunch with beverage package (water + 1 soft drink or 1 local beer or 1 glass of wine + 1 coffee or tea).

·        Services of a local English-speaking guide.

Your programme does not include:

·        Tips for the driver and local guide.

·        Personal expenses

·        Other services not mentioned in the programme.

Please note:

·        This excursion involves walking approximately 1 km (0.6 miles). The walk to Peggy's Cove is optional, but we recommend you wear warm clothing, a waterproof and comfortable shoes.

Duration and order of the visits may vary. To know your PONANT flight schedule, please contact your travel agent; it is also indicated on your electronic ticket included in your travel documents.
In the event of schedule changes of PONANT’s selected flight, your programme will be adapted to ensure the most seamless and enriching experience. The content of your revised programme will be updated on the PONANT website, in My Ponant space and on the PONANT app. The final programme will also be sent to you along with your cruise documents.
