PONANT invites you to discover the Atlantic coastline with a brand-new 9-day cruise. During this exceptional journey aboard Le Lyrial, let the wild and melancholic beauty of the French, British and Irish coasts surprise you.
Throughout your journey, you will benefit from an excursion included per person per port of call, to choose from a selection offered by PONANT. On this cruise, explore the Ria d’Etel, near Quiberon, discover the Mont-Saint-Michel from Saint-Malo, or visit Cork and the famous Old Jameson distillery from Kinsale. Departing from Bordeaux, the wine capital of the world, you will head for the coast of Brittany and call at Quiberon, the port of embarkation for the aptly-named Belle-Île-en-Mer. You will then reach the tip of the Finistère and the ship will enter the magnificent Brest harbour, where you may catch a glimpse of La Recouvrance, the stunning schooner that is both the ambassador of the city and its symbol.
After calling at Guernesey, whose green meadows and romantic cliffs once welcomed the exiled Victor Hugo, you will sail to Saint-Malo. In this town famous for the legendary Route du Rhum yacht race, lose yourself in the diversity of its heritage, stroll along its rampart walks, and fall under the charm of the city of privateers.
Le Lyrial will cross the English Channel to reach Dartmouth, a charming town tucked away in the heart of the stunning setting formed by the mouth of the Dart. You will discover its old pastel-coloured fishermen’s houses and some half-timbered buildings.
Your ship will then sail towards the Isles of Scilly, a strange little archipelago whose landscapes seem to have come straight out of Enid Blyton's famous story, The Rockingdown Mystery. Here, long sandy beaches lie alongside green fields, while ruins of old castles stand proud on hilltops.
You will leave England for Ireland where you will discover Kinsale, a charming little port sheltered within the Bandon Estuary.
Your cruise will end in Dublin, the Irish capital brimming with convivial atmosphere and authentic charm.

Built around a magnificent harbour, Brest opens onto the Iroise Sea and the river Penfeld that runs through the city. Its port was used by the French navy for centuries before becoming an important commercial port and marina appreciated by the great navigators. As you stroll along Quai Commandant Malbert, you may catch a glimpse of the superb schooner La Recouvrance and, in the distance, a few lighthouses along the chiselled coastline. You will be able to discover the marine ecosystems at the Oceanopolis centre and visit the naval museum housed in Château de Brest. Officially recognised as a city of art and history, Brest will also charm you with its architectural eclecticism, mingling modernism, neoclassicism, art nouveau and art deco.

The Irish capital stretches along the banks of the Liffey to Dublin bay, on the East coast of Ireland. Discover Ireland’s warm conviviality in the pedestrian district of Temple Bar. Its cobbled streets are brimming with fabulous shops, pubs and arts centres. Next to Trinity College, famous for its 18th century library, you can stroll along Grafton Street: in one of its famous tea shops, try a delicious scone and clotted cream served hot and melt-in-the-mouth with jam. Not far from here, the majestic O’Connell bridge leads you to the avenue with the same name, on which Spire, a luminous contemporary sculpture presides.
Discover Belle-Ile-en-Mer
Laissez-vous tenter par une balade envoûtante dans le Morbihan calme et paisible, avec la découverte du village de Saint-Cado, petit îlot plein de charme au cœur de la rivière d’Etel.
L’île, accessible uniquement à pied et reliée par un pont, se dévoile le long des eaux paisibles de la Ria d’Etel. Une atmosphère unique règne sur ce petit bout de terre qui compte une vingtaine de maisons de pêcheurs et une magnifique chapelle romane du XIIe siècle. Un sentier permet de faire le tour de l’île à pied, offrant de sublimes points de vue sur la rivière et les paysages bretons. Allow yourself to be tempted by a captivating walk in the calm and peaceful Morbihan, with the discovery of the village of Saint-Cado, a small islet full of charm at the heart of the Etel River, also known as the Ria d’Etel.
The island, which is only accessible on foot and connected by a bridge, will reveal itself along the peaceful waters of the Ria d’Etel. A unique atmosphere reigns on this small piece of land, which has around twenty fishermen’s houses and a magnificent 12th-century Romanesque chapel. There is a path you can walk all the way around the island, taking in sublime points of view over the river and the Breton landscapes. Above all, you will be able to admire one of the reasons behind Saint-Cado’s renown: the famous little house with the blue shutters. Standing as if it were placed on the water, this residence, only accessible by foot at low tide, is a delight for photographers and painters.

The North coast of Guernsey offers the walkers a perfect playground with a long beautiful shoreline. After a short transfer to L'Ancresse Bay, start your beautiful walk with its sandy beach and clear turquoise waters and follow the coast passing Fort Le Marchant and Fort Doyle. A short detour inland brings you to one of the most fascinating prehistoric sites in the Island; Le Dehus Burial Chamber, a prehistoric passage grave.
Back on the coast, you come to a tiny harbour which overlooks the neighbouring islands and the remains of an impressive castle, Vale Castle. Your local coach awaits there.

Depart from pier and enjoy a walking guided visit of Saint-Malo leading to the Asfeld Hotel.
As you stroll around the quaint narrow streets, your knowledgeable guide points out sites of historical interest. View the castle, part of the ramparts protecting the town, the town's typical streets, the house of Duchess Ann, and the cathedral. Also, get acquainted with the more famous personalities of Saint-Malo, such as Jacques Cartier, Duguay-Trouin, Surcouf, and the well-known romantic writer Chateaubriand. Enter the Asfeld Hotel for a visit of this former Privateer's house, followed by a cider tasting. This Manor house has been built by François-Auguste Magon de La Lande, privateer and merchant. He was one of the most powerful ship-owner in the heyday of Saint-Malo and a director of the French East Indies Company. Built in 1725, the house is listed as a Historic Monument (interior and exterior) so as to protect its authenticity and guarantee that the restoration respects historical accuracy.
Here you will enjoy a glass of cider before walking back to pier and your awaiting ship.

From the pier, board your coach and start your 30-minute drive to Cancale.
Picturesque fishing village, Cancale is renowned for its “bancs d’huîtres” (oyster’s beds). The gardeners of the sea work from the parks to the farms thousands of oysters up to the time they are ready to please the gourmet.
En-route, you will discover an oyster farm. During your guided visit of the “Ferme Marine”, you will learn more about the work of the oyster farmer and the workshop (tanks, washing, conditioning). Normally, you will have the opportunity to see the farmer during her/his working day.
Following your visit, you will enjoy an oyster tasting accompanied with a glass of wine.
Then, you will drive to Cancale fishing port to enjoy a walking guided tour along “La Houle” and historical seamen neighborhood before having some free time to explore by yourself.
After, your tour will continue to La Pointe du Grouin nature reserve. At the Northern end of the department, in the commune of Cancale, the “Pointe du Grouin” houses the most important coastal bird nesting site of Ille-et-Vilaine.
Dominated by a semaphore built in 1861, the Pointe du Grouin offers a panoramic view of the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel and the coast of the Channel to the east, and a succession of handles and points to Cap Fréhel to the west.

From the pier, board your local coach and join directly the Mont Saint Michel which “is to the ocean what the Pyramid of Cheops is to the desert” as Victor Hugo put it.
Upon arrival, your guide will give you a short security briefing before starting your hike. Then, discover the bay from a unique point of view: from inside. This hike will allow you to discover the famous shifting sands and unusual views on the Mont Saint Michel and the Rock of Tombelaine, located in the middle of the bay. Follow your passionate guide on this impressive desert and humid stretch of land, home to an important and specific biodiversity. Your guide will explain the tides, fauna and flora, will show you the quicksand safely.
After this unique experience head back to your ship.

This excursion involves walking approximately 3 hours on uneven ground and wet sand. We recommend you wear comfortable walking shoes and bring neoprene shoes to walk on the sand and a towel from the ship to dry your feet afterwards. It is also possible to walk barefoot in the bay. We also recommend you wear short or bermuda to avoid wetting your clothes, and bring a raincoat, a hat, water and sun cream. This excursion is only possible at low tide and depends on weather conditions. The tour is limited to 30 partipants.

Mont-Saint-Michel
From the pier, you will board your coach for the one-hour drive to the Mont-Saint-Michel. On arrival, you will change your transportation and take a shuttle to reach the village entrance.
Your walking exploration will start at the foot of the island. This jewel of France, according to Victor Hugo 'is to the ocean what the Pyramid of Cheops is to the desert'.
At first, you will discover the Mont surrounded by the bay's fragile and natural setting of fauna and flora. You will continue through the narrow streets of the medieval village and walk up to the Abbey for a guided visit inside the abbey, achievement of passionate builders. Taking its inspiration from a dream, the monastery was founded in the 10th century and today welcomes modern pilgrims following the century-old tradition.
After lunch in a famous local restaurant, enjoy some time at leisure for independent sightseeing and shopping before rejoining your guide to take the shuttle back to the parking.
Finally, you will board you coach for your transfer to Saint Malo and your ship.

The visit of Mont-Saint-Michel is done entirely on foot, covering approximately 1.2 miles (2 km), including uphill and downhill walking on cobblestone streets with more than 350 steps to negotiate, mainly to reach the Abbey. This tour is not recommended for guests with any mobility challenges. We recommend you wear comfortable walking shoes and protect yourself from the sun. Toilets are available by the bus parking lot, please have 0.40€ handy. The shuttle used to reach the foot of the Mont from the parking lot is not exclusive to PONANT guests. Appropriate clothing is required to enter religious sites: shoulders and knees must be covered.

Join a public ferry for a transfer up the pretty River Dart, passing stunning scenery all the while. Agatha Christie’s House, Greenway, sits here on the banks of the river in its idyllic setting.
Upon arrival at Kingswear station you will board the steam train. The ride takes you through breathtaking, picturesque scenery through the wooded slopes of Long Wood bordering the Dart Estuary, and along the spectacular English Riviera Geopark coast line to Paignton. You will enjoy a short stop here before returning the same way back to Dartmouth.
- As the timetable is not available at the moment we are publishing, please note the tour may need to be extended slightly, depending on what time the trains and river cruises are running. Both Paignton and Kingswear stations have level access to the platforms. Ramps are provided for wheelchair access onto the Guards van and the designated wheelchair area for each train in service. Dependant on wheelchair size up to 4 wheelchairs can normally be accommodated. To board the ferry between Kingswear and Dartmouth, intending passengers must be aware that at certain states of the tide (very low spring tides), there is a significant angle to the pontoons on both sides of the river. This tour is conducted in English only.

Enjoy a scenic drive through the Devonshire countryside to arrive at the Sandridge Barton Estate on the banks of the River Dart.
Visit Sandridge Barton, the home of Sharpham wine, one of the earliest pioneers of the English wine industry with a history stretching back over 40 years. Gain a true understanding of the winemaking processes and enjoy an instructive wine tasting experience. You will be escorted through three wines, beginning with the methods used in the vineyard and ending with a visit of the winemaking facilities.
After the tasting, you will get the opportunity to taste two local Devon cheeses before returning to Dartmouth.

Make the delightful journey up the river Dart by boat. After a 30-minute sailing, arrive at Greenway House and Gardens.
Agatha Christie made Greenway her holiday home from 1938 until 1959. Take the opportunity to view the many personal collections and mementoes of our best-loved mystery writer and her family in a house that portrays the spirit of a holiday home in its 1950s heyday. Here, Agatha Christie gathered with her family and friends for long summer days together, often to celebrate a novel just completed for publication. Visit the house before taking a stroll around the gardens.
The most nostalgic and magical of gardens, evoking a past world of long summer holidays and secret places waiting to be discovered, was described by previous owner Agatha Christie as "the loveliest place in the world". The beautiful garden is renowned for its rare half-hardy plants, under planted with drifts of native wild flowers. Among the many corners to explore are a Victorian fernery, an exquisitely restored vinery and the enigmatic "Raleigh's boathouse".

The walk from Greenway quay to visitor reception is steep in places along a winding bark chip path through the Greenway woodland. The 750 metres (800 yards) walk takes about 10 minutes and there are plenty of benches for resting or admiring the view on the way. This tour is not suitable for guests with limited mobility due to the steep hill and getting on and off the boats. Walking in the gardens is at guest's discretion. We recommend you wear comfortable walking shoes and waterproof clothes.

Since 1863, Dartmouth and the River Dart have been the home of initial Naval Officer training in the United Kingdom. Today it is the only remaining Naval Officer College in the country, fulfilling a vital role in training Naval Officer cadets, not only from Britain, but those from the Commonwealth and all over the world.
After a short transfer, enjoy a special tour of the Britannia Royal Naval College, where you will be taken into the heart of the College, from the elegant chapel, through to areas including the Quaterdeck, Parade Ground, Senior Gun Room and Britannia Heritage Museum.
The visit of this iconic building will offer an informative narrative allowing you to appreciate the rich history, role and relevance of this place and the naval training conducted here today.

Please be aware that most of the floors in the College are polished wood, therefore sensible, comfortable footwear is strongly recommended. The stunning Tresco Abbey Gardens were created nearly 170 years ago by Augustus Smith around the remains of the 12th century Saint Nicholas Priory. Succeeding generations of the Dorrien-Smith family and their gardeners have collected one of the most fascinating and varied botanical collection of plants from all around the world. These include hotter, drier terraces at the top to suit Australian and South African plants, whilst the bottom ones provide the humidity that favours flora from New Zealand and South America.
Fringing the lush grid of paths criss-crossing the gardens are cacti, date-palms and rarities like lobster claw and shocking-pink drifts of pelargonium. The Valhalla museum reminds the visitor of the shipwrecks that surround the islands and the storms that caused many of them.

The Norrard Rocks: The Norrard Rocks are a group of rugged rocks and islands, located to the North and West of Samson and Bryher. They include Mincarlo, Scilly Rock and Maiden Bower, to name but a few. This journey provides an excellent opportunity to see both seals and seabirds (including Puffins until late July) in one relatively short trip.
Round Island Lighthouse: The Round Island Lighthouse, together with the islands of Tean, and St Helen’s are located between Tresco and St Martin’s, an area rich in history. You will also cruise past Men-A-Vaur, an imposing rock that is home to many seabirds, with Puffins often seen here until late July.
Wildlife Spotting: The Isles of Scilly, positioned in the far southwest of Britain, are ideally located for pelagic trips in search of Northeast Atlantic seabirds. Every year a wide variety of breeding and passage seabirds are recorded, along with cetaceans, turtles and sunfish.

Depart the pier for a 45-minute drive to Cork city. Experience a panoramic drive and orientation of the city which includes highlights such as the spires of Saint Fin Barre’s Cathedral, the Old Courthouse, City Hall and the renowned Bells of Shandon.
Next, travel to Blarney Castle. This 5th century castle is famous for its legendary Blarney Stone, embedded in the castle wall. The stone is said to have the power to bestow the gift of eloquence on anyone who kisses it. To do so, you must climb the 108 stone steps to the battlements, lie on your back, with someone holding you, and bend down to kiss the overhanging stone. The less agile may simply enjoy the magnificent views from the castle grounds. These were laid out in the 18th century and contain a grove of trees and pretty dells with a circle of large stones known as Rock Close.
Visit the Blarney Woollen Mills, which offers a large selection of Irish goods. Some free time is afforded for exploring and to enjoy an Irish coffee. The tour concludes with the one-hour return drive to your ship.

Depart from the pier and travel to the city of Cork. Your panoramic tour will introduce you to Cork, Ireland’s second city (or the “real capital” of Ireland, as the inhabitants like to call it!); it was founded on an island on the swampy estuary of the River Lee just upstream from Cork harbour, one of the world’s largest natural harbours. Today the Lee flows through the city in two main channels, so that you find yourself constantly crossing bridges. In fact, it is this feature of the city that gives it its distinctively continental air. Today, Cork City has become the shopping and commercial capital of the south. It is a University City with a unique character, a city of Jazz, Film, Opera and Theatre. Leaving the city, you will travel eastwards to the village of Midleton, the town from which the famous rare Irish whiskey gets its name. A visit to the Old Jameson distillery will take you right to the heart of the cherished whiskey making tradition. You are invited to join a 60-minute guided tour of this beautifully restored 18th-century self-contained industrial complex, unique in Britain and Ireland. Delight in the fully operational water wheel and be amazed by the copper pot still of 32,000 gallons which is the largest in the world. An audio-visual presentation breathes life into the Irish Whiskey legend.
After the history comes the tasting, where you are invited to relax in the atmosphere of a traditional Irish pub and sample Ireland’s finest whiskey. Afterwards visit the craft shop, or coffee shop at Jameson Heritage Centre where you can lose yourself in the charm of another age.

Charles Fort & Old Head
From the pier, board your local coach and take the direction of the rugged landscape of Old Head Kinsale. The Old Head has some spectacular scenery with the Atlantic Ocean surrounding the cliffs that form it. On May 7, 1915, the Luisitania passenger ship was torpedoed by the German U-Boat 11 miles off the southern coast of Old Head during WWII, claiming 1198 lives. Today the wreck is 300ft below water.
As you drive the loop you will reach Garrylucas Beach where you will stop for a gentle stroll alongside this beautiful blue flag beach leading onto Garretstown Beach, located next to each other.
Continue via the inland route to Charles Fort. Charles Fort is a classic example of a late 17th century star-shaped fort. Here, enjoy a guided tour of this dramatic fort that was primarily constructed as a coastal defence to prevent attacking naval forces from entering Kinsale Harbour. As one of the largest military forts in the country, Charles Fort has been associated with some of the most momentous events in Irish history. These include the Williamite War in 1690 and the Irish Civil War of 1922-23. Charles Fort remained garrisoned by the British army until 1922.

Discover Belle-Ile-en-Mer

Allow yourself to be tempted by a captivating walk in the calm and peaceful Morbihan, with the discovery of the village of Saint-Cado, a small islet full of charm at the heart of the Etel River, also known as the Ria d’Etel.
The island, which is only accessible on foot and connected by a bridge, will reveal itself along the peaceful waters of the Ria d’Etel. A unique atmosphere reigns on this small piece of land, which has around twenty fishermen’s houses and a magnificent 12th-century Romanesque chapel. There is a path you can walk all the way around the island, taking in sublime points of view over the river and the Breton landscapes. Above all, you will be able to admire one of the reasons behind Saint-Cado’s renown: the famous little house with the blue shutters. Standing as if it were placed on the water, this residence, only accessible by foot at low tide, is a delight for photographers and painters.

The North coast of Guernsey offers the walkers a perfect playground with a long beautiful shoreline. After a short transfer to L'Ancresse Bay, start your beautiful walk with its sandy beach and clear turquoise waters and follow the coast passing Fort Le Marchant and Fort Doyle. A short detour inland brings you to one of the most fascinating prehistoric sites in the Island; Le Dehus Burial Chamber, a prehistoric passage grave.

Depart from pier and enjoy a walking guided visit of Saint-Malo leading to the Asfeld Hotel.
As you stroll around the quaint narrow streets, your knowledgeable guide points out sites of historical interest. View the castle, part of the ramparts protecting the town, the town's typical streets, the house of Duchess Ann, and the cathedral. Also, get acquainted with the more famous personalities of Saint-Malo, such as Jacques Cartier, Duguay-Trouin, Surcouf, and the well-known romantic writer Chateaubriand. Enter the Asfeld Hotel for a visit of this former Privateer's house, followed by a cider tasting. This Manor house has been built by François-Auguste Magon de La Lande, privateer and merchant. He was one of the most powerful ship-owner in the heyday of Saint-Malo and a director of the French East Indies Company. Built in 1725, the house is listed as a Historic Monument (interior and exterior) so as to protect its authenticity and guarantee that the restoration respects historical accuracy.
Here you will enjoy a glass of cider before walking back to pier and your awaiting ship.

From the pier, board your coach and start your 30-minute drive to Cancale.
Picturesque fishing village, Cancale is renowned for its “bancs d’huîtres” (oyster’s beds). The gardeners of the sea work from the parks to the farms thousands of oysters up to the time they are ready to please the gourmet.
En-route, you will discover an oyster farm. During your guided visit of the “Ferme Marine”, you will learn more about the work of the oyster farmer and the workshop (tanks, washing, conditioning). Normally, you will have the opportunity to see the farmer during her/his working day.
Following your visit, you will enjoy an oyster tasting accompanied with a glass of wine.
Then, you will drive to Cancale fishing port to enjoy a walking guided tour along “La Houle” and historical seamen neighborhood before having some free time to explore by yourself.
After, your tour will continue to La Pointe du Grouin nature reserve. At the Northern end of the department, in the commune of Cancale, the “Pointe du Grouin” houses the most important coastal bird nesting site of Ille-et-Vilaine.
Dominated by a semaphore built in 1861, the Pointe du Grouin offers a panoramic view of the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel and the coast of the Channel to the east, and a succession of handles and points to Cap Fréhel to the west.

From the pier, board your local coach and join directly the Mont Saint Michel which “is to the ocean what the Pyramid of Cheops is to the desert” as Victor Hugo put it.
Upon arrival, your guide will give you a short security briefing before starting your hike. Then, discover the bay from a unique point of view: from inside. This hike will allow you to discover the famous shifting sands and unusual views on the Mont Saint Michel and the Rock of Tombelaine, located in the middle of the bay. Follow your passionate guide on this impressive desert and humid stretch of land, home to an important and specific biodiversity. Your guide will explain the tides, fauna and flora, will show you the quicksand safely.

Mont-Saint-Michel
From the pier, you will board your coach for the one-hour drive to the Mont-Saint-Michel. On arrival, you will change your transportation and take a shuttle to reach the village entrance.
Your walking exploration will start at the foot of the island. This jewel of France, according to Victor Hugo 'is to the ocean what the Pyramid of Cheops is to the desert'.
At first, you will discover the Mont surrounded by the bay's fragile and natural setting of fauna and flora. You will continue through the narrow streets of the medieval village and walk up to the Abbey for a guided visit inside the abbey, achievement of passionate builders. Taking its inspiration from a dream, the monastery was founded in the 10th century and today welcomes modern pilgrims following the century-old tradition.
After lunch in a famous local restaurant, enjoy some time at leisure for independent sightseeing and shopping before rejoining your guide to take the shuttle back to the parking.
Finally, you will board you coach for your transfer to Saint Malo and your ship.

The visit of Mont-Saint-Michel is done entirely on foot, covering approximately 1.2 miles (2 km), including uphill and downhill walking on cobblestone streets with more than 350 steps to negotiate, mainly to reach the Abbey. This tour is not recommended for guests with any mobility challenges. We recommend you wear comfortable walking shoes and protect yourself from the sun. Toilets are available by the bus parking lot, please have 0.40€ handy. The shuttle used to reach the foot of the Mont from the parking lot is not exclusive to PONANT guests. Appropriate clothing is required to enter religious sites: shoulders and knees must be covered.

Join a public ferry for a transfer up the pretty River Dart, passing stunning scenery all the while. Agatha Christie’s House, Greenway, sits here on the banks of the river in its idyllic setting.
Upon arrival at Kingswear station you will board the steam train. The ride takes you through breathtaking, picturesque scenery through the wooded slopes of Long Wood bordering the Dart Estuary, and along the spectacular English Riviera Geopark coast line to Paignton. You will enjoy a short stop here before returning the same way back to Dartmouth.
- As the timetable is not available at the moment we are publishing, please note the tour may need to be extended slightly, depending on what time the trains and river cruises are running. Both Paignton and Kingswear stations have level access to the platforms. Ramps are provided for wheelchair access onto the Guards van and the designated wheelchair area for each train in service. Dependant on wheelchair size up to 4 wheelchairs can normally be accommodated. To board the ferry between Kingswear and Dartmouth, intending passengers must be aware that at certain states of the tide (very low spring tides), there is a significant angle to the pontoons on both sides of the river. The most nostalgic and magical of gardens, evoking a past world of long summer holidays and secret places waiting to be discovered, was described by previous owner Agatha Christie as "the loveliest place in the world". The beautiful garden is renowned for its rare half-hardy plants, under planted with drifts of native wild flowers. Among the many corners to explore are a Victorian fernery, an exquisitely restored vinery and the enigmatic "Raleigh's boathouse".

The walk from Greenway quay to visitor reception is steep in places along a winding bark chip path through the Greenway woodland. The 750 metres (800 yards) walk takes about 10 minutes and there are plenty of benches for resting or admiring the view on the way. Since 1863, Dartmouth and the River Dart have been the home of initial Naval Officer training in the United Kingdom. Today it is the only remaining Naval Officer College in the country, fulfilling a vital role in training Naval Officer cadets, not only from Britain, but those from the Commonwealth and all over the world.

Fringing the lush grid of paths criss-crossing the gardens are cacti, date-palms and rarities like lobster claw and shocking-pink drifts of pelargonium. The Valhalla museum reminds the visitor of the shipwrecks that surround the islands and the storms that caused many of them.

Eastern Isles: A cruise around this idyllic group of a dozen uninhabited islands nestling in the Eastern corner of Scilly, is our most popular circular trip. The Eastern Isles are one of the best places for viewing the Atlantic Grey Seals, as well as offering a wonderful variety of seabirds.
The Norrard Rocks: The Norrard Rocks are a group of rugged rocks and islands, located to the North and West of Samson and Bryher. They include Mincarlo, Scilly Rock and Maiden Bower, to name but a few. This journey provides an excellent opportunity to see both seals and seabirds (including Puffins until late July) in one relatively short trip.
Round Island Lighthouse: The Round Island Lighthouse, together with the islands of Tean, and St Helen’s are located between Tresco and St Martin’s, an area rich in history. You will also cruise past Men-A-Vaur, an imposing rock that is home to many seabirds, with Puffins often seen here until late July.
Wildlife Spotting: The Isles of Scilly, positioned in the far southwest of Britain, are ideally located for pelagic trips in search of Northeast Atlantic seabirds. Every year a wide variety of breeding and passage seabirds are recorded, along with cetaceans, turtles and sunfish.

Depart the pier for a 45-minute drive to Cork city. Experience a panoramic drive and orientation of the city which includes highlights such as the spires of Saint Fin Barre’s Cathedral, the Old Courthouse, City Hall and the renowned Bells of Shandon.
Next, travel to Blarney Castle. This 5th century castle is famous for its legendary Blarney Stone, embedded in the castle wall. The stone is said to have the power to bestow the gift of eloquence on anyone who kisses it. To do so, you must climb the 108 stone steps to the battlements, lie on your back, with someone holding you, and bend down to kiss the overhanging stone. The less agile may simply enjoy the magnificent views from the castle grounds. These were laid out in the 18th century and contain a grove of trees and pretty dells with a circle of large stones known as Rock Close.
Visit the Blarney Woollen Mills, which offers a large selection of Irish goods. Some free time is afforded for exploring and to enjoy an Irish coffee. The tour concludes with the one-hour return drive to your ship.

Depart from the pier and travel to the city of Cork. Your panoramic tour will introduce you to Cork, Ireland’s second city (or the “real capital” of Ireland, as the inhabitants like to call it!); it was founded on an island on the swampy estuary of the River Lee just upstream from Cork harbour, one of the world’s largest natural harbours. Today the Lee flows through the city in two main channels, so that you find yourself constantly crossing bridges. In fact, it is this feature of the city that gives it its distinctively continental air. Today, Cork City has become the shopping and commercial capital of the south. It is a University City with a unique character, a city of Jazz, Film, Opera and Theatre. However, as well as offering the many amenities of a large city, it still manages to retain the pleasant charm and friendliness of a country town. You will see the spires of Saint Fin Barre’s Cathedral, The Old Courthouse, City Hall and the renowned Bells of Shandon.
Leaving the city, you will travel eastwards to the village of Midleton, the town from which the famous rare Irish whiskey gets its name. A visit to the Old Jameson distillery will take you right to the heart of the cherished whiskey making tradition. You are invited to join a 60-minute guided tour of this beautifully restored 18th-century self-contained industrial complex, unique in Britain and Ireland. Delight in the fully operational water wheel and be amazed by the copper pot still of 32,000 gallons which is the largest in the world. An audio-visual presentation breathes life into the Irish Whiskey legend.
After the history comes the tasting, where you are invited to relax in the atmosphere of a traditional Irish pub and sample Ireland’s finest whiskey. Afterwards visit the craft shop, or coffee shop at Jameson Heritage Centre where you can lose yourself in the charm of another age.
Following your visit, re-board your coach for your return drive to the pier and your ship.

Charles Fort & Old Head
From the pier, board your local coach and take the direction of the rugged landscape of Old Head Kinsale. The Old Head has some spectacular scenery with the Atlantic Ocean surrounding the cliffs that form it. On May 7, 1915, the Luisitania passenger ship was torpedoed by the German U-Boat 11 miles off the southern coast of Old Head during WWII, claiming 1198 lives. Today the wreck is 300ft below water.
As you drive the loop you will reach Garrylucas Beach where you will stop for a gentle stroll alongside this beautiful blue flag beach leading onto Garretstown Beach, located next to each other.
Continue via the inland route to Charles Fort. Charles Fort is a classic example of a late 17th century star-shaped fort. Here, enjoy a guided tour of this dramatic fort that was primarily constructed as a coastal defence to prevent attacking naval forces from entering Kinsale Harbour. As one of the largest military forts in the country, Charles Fort has been associated with some of the most momentous events in Irish history. These include the Williamite War in 1690 and the Irish Civil War of 1922-23. Charles Fort remained garrisoned by the British army until 1922.
After your visit, rejoin your coach for your transfer back to your awaiting ship.
